We may not have unpredictably cold weather in Nigeria but there is still a place for double breasted gowns that can be worn as jackets – better yet – Trench coats. A trench coat is one of those classic wardrobe staples that are adaptable, transitional and suits all shapes and sizes.

As we wave the rainy season goodbye and transition into Harmattan, one must have item of clothing in your closet should be this coat. It’s perfect for layering during the cooler hours of the morning and evenings and when the sun comes out to play, you can easily yank it off and stow it away.

I chose to wear mine in two ways: the first look was cinched at the waist and I even cannot deny the fact that I was feeling like Olivia Pope when I put this ensemble together. It’s the kind of outfit she would have on as she stomps across the hallway into the Oval office and commands Mellie Grant to do her bidding – not only because she’s command of B613 but also because you cannot fault her in the fashion department. It’s an iconic Power Dressing accessory and you’d best get yours from Mareh_Atelier.

I also opened up the buttons and let my mid-section show because I would typically pull off a look like this if I was going out with colleagues after work or stopping by a weeknight social gathering and didn’t want to look like I put a lot of effort into my outfit.

So do you agree with me? Is this clothing accessory a forever piece? You can steal this style @Mareh_Atelier. Until next time,
