I know what you’re thinking: a tulle skirt is no different from a tutu and there is no way you’re wearing one, but it’s been 13 years since Sex & The City ended, yet It-girls, Celebrities and fashion brands keep re-inventing different ways to wear it.
Make no mistakes about it – one wrong move and you’ll end up looking like a 7 year old getting ready for a ballet recital, but tulle’s journey to becoming a veritably chic and edgy form of self expression has now extended well into the world of high-end fashion and savvy chic style.
Over the weekend, I paid a visit to 41 Luxe Abuja and while I almost got lost in rows and rows of the most covet worthy dresses, tops and skirts, this outfit caught my attention. I mean… I have come across tulle tiered skirts, textured tops and transparent maxi dresses but the combination of this maxi skirt with a full on fabric top is so off-kilter and if you know anything about me, you’ll know eccentric fashion is a bit of me.
I complemented this look with the Chloe blush pink Nile Minaudiere clutch (also from 41 Luxe Abuja) and paired it with nude sandals to match. But can we have a moment for the Nile Minaudiere? Not only has it been adopted by doyenne’s of fashion, but all our faves – Aimee Song, Lydia Millen and Patricia Bright have also sported this arm candy on fashion’s biggest nights.
I think of 41 Luxe as a destination. It plays host to a selection of high end Nigerian fashion brands that can sort out your outfit situation regardless of the occasion. This luxurious retail store also has a range of decadent home fragrances (The likes of Dr Vranjes and Millefiori), unique home decor and accessories and the finest selection of teas. So the next time you’re looking to make a statement, you know where to go.
