In Tudor England, successive monarchs tried to define social status by dressing. During the reign of Henry VIII a strict code was passed which governed the wearing of “costly apparel” and red was one of the colours most rigidly controlled. Red has long been associated with danger and passion. The stop sign, the beating heart, the fireworks, the roadblock, it’s the color of kings and queens, war and empire, revolutions are ignited by it, the camera loves it and people go to court because of it.
Red is inherently exciting and if the amount of red is directly related to the level of perceived energy then 41 Luxe Abuja has my batteries charged to the maximum. Just imagine your majestic arrival to an A-list event (fashionably late of course) with Chris De Burgh’s version of Lady In Red playing in your subconscious, you’re beautifully wrapped in yards and yards of gorgeous red silk, with a slight plunge down the middle and a belt that shows off your torso….ooh! The allure of the moment.
I’m pretty sure every lady has witnessed the effect of a beautiful red dress but this one from 41 Luxe really takes the cake. The first time I ran my hands down the length, I had to do a double take because It felt too good to be true. I mean…black remains an all time favorite but it’s sassier sister – Red is making me shift my focus.
I also love the fact that it’s midi length. There are some situations in which you allow the dress do all the talking – and this is one of them. These kinds of dresses need no additional flashes of skin. Given that it’s a fiery shade of red, any additional peeps here and there will most likely take out onlookers – and we need them alive to admire the outfit, right?
You can shop this dress in store at 41 Luxe Abuja – No. 41 Libreville Crescent, Wuse 2 or directly via their website: www.41luxe.com
